Originally from the UK, Dylan Nathan, released his first EPs in Manchester on Autechre-affiliated Skam records, original home of BoC. Has toured with Autechre in 1997. Nathan’s first album, Spectrum, was the first release on Mike Paradinas/ µ-Ziq’s Planet Mu label. Paradinas & Nathan studied architecture together in London ’91-94 on the same campus with Aphex Twin. His latest album, Variance is the culmination of Jega’s musical exploration in synthesis, sampling, melody and polyrythmic beats.

A welcome face to dance floors all over California, Steady is a solid contributor to West Coast dubstep whose productions and performances passionately promote the sound. After playing drum and bass for almost a decade, Steady caught the dubstep contagion and was soon inducted into the SMOG family with the rest of the beat freaks. Along with fellow DJ and producer Kelly Dean, Steady now hosts a radio show “PLATFORM” on DubstepFM every second Saturday of the month from 1-3PM, where he showcases exclusive new material by artists both local and from around the world. The two have also just released “The Prophet” on Shift Recordings and you can find Steady’s work on Alterkation Records as well as on the recent and wildly popular “Dubstep LA” mix by Plastician. Looking forward to future collaborations with fellow SMOG members and other local dubstep heads, Steady continues to propel the sound forward in the studio and at filthy parties all up and down the West Coast.

Mateo Bambaataa, born Matthew Silva in Escondido, CA, was brought up in Philly from 1979 to 1986 — formative years where he was exposed to the early stages of hip hop culture as it filtered south from New York City. He fell in love with the beat and b-boying. His first hands-on experience with turntables was in the late 80′s and learned to mix records with the sounds of Kraftwerk, Afrika Bambaataa, and The Egyptian Lover.

About 20 years later, after holding down residencies in San Francisco, Salt Lake City, the midwest, and San Diego, he still rocks it. With no genre boundaries in his way, Mateo combines classic cuts and new sounds and rhythms you haven’t even heard yet. He’s a purist too — strictly vinyl. Most recognized in L.A. & S.F. as a dubstep badman, his 1st debut in the scene was at LA’s SMOG Sessions, when Knife Dreams dropped a DLX track for the very first time, the response was a fierce call for a rewind that instantly secured him as one of the founders of the LA dubstep movement.

A longtime resident for SMOG, as well as Pure Filth, DLX’s first dubstep gig was in early 2007, where he opened for Kode 9 in L.A. He has also manned the decks for various other dubstep events, including Dubstep Nostra,Redline in SF, and Bassrush.
